What a Cortex holds and loads

What loads first for a bot or AI app, and who can write each Cortex?

A Cortex is a folder of ordinary files. In it, you and your AI agents record what you know, how things work and what you are pursuing. This lets the next session, human or AI, pick up from there.

Every person gets a personal Cortex when their account is created. Each module (one self-contained space within AIEUS) also keeps a shared Cortex on how it works. Everyone in the module can read it, but by default only administrators can change it. Keep in mind: An administrator can give another person permission to change the module's Cortex.

Every Cortex starts with a card, a short opening page with two lines you fill in. They say what this Cortex serves and the next action toward it. Agents start from those two lines. Keep in mind: Keep the card short. An oversized card reaches a connected AI app empty. A bot will not reply from one that is too large.

As needed, you add three folders. One holds what is known, with sources and dates. A second holds how things work and the terms you rely on. A third holds what you aim to achieve, including decisions and open questions.

When you connect an AI assistant app to AIEUS, the module tells it to begin by reading your card and the module's card. That way it starts from your stated goal and next step. Keep in mind: The app has to take that first step. If it does not, ask it to. A card that is too large, or one you cannot read, arrives empty. Besides the two cards, the app gets the introduction note at the top of your folder. It also gets the module's welcome page, if you can read it. No file from a team Cortex or anywhere else loads by itself.

Each bot (an AI assistant in the module) has its own Cortex. It starts replies from its instructions, its own card and the module's card, not yours. With tools on, it can choose to read your Cortex with your permissions. Keep in mind: Everyone in the module can read a bot's Cortex and, by default, change it, so never keep private notes there.

Anyone can create a Cortex for a team or project in a folder they can edit. To share it, an administrator gives each team member access to that folder, either to read it or to contribute. Keep in mind: Only an administrator can share a folder, even your own. A team or project Cortex never loads by itself. Link it from your card or ask your agent to read it. Writing text in a Cortex never changes who can see it.
